Academy 9U – 12U

Do you eat, sleep and breathe soccer? Do you want to work with the best soccer coaches in the area? Do you want to train with players who love the game like you? Do you have dreams of becoming a college or professional player some day? If you answered yes to any of these questions then the Savannah United Soccer Academy is the program for you! The Academy is designed for boys and girls who are seeking skill development and advancement in a fun, competitive, and rewarding environment. This program is the ideal preparation for those hoping to represent their school soccer team or aspiring to play at a higher level whether that be ECNL, College or Professionally. We have Academy graduates who have achieved all of those things and some Elite players who have even represented their Country at the National Level.

Academy players are expected to train at least twice weekly, but players can request to add additional nights of training. The club will do its best to accommodate these requests. All decisions on the matter are made by the Academy Director and those decisions are final. The majority of teams are considered ‘travel teams’, but we also offer ‘local teams’ depending on the level of play. As the name suggests, these teams only play games in Savannah. In addition to home games and events, the travel teams participate in festivals and tournaments within the South East Region. Destinations within the immediate area can include, but are not limited to Richmond Hill (GA), Statesboro (GA), Effingham (GA), Jekyll Island (GA), Brunswick (GA), Hardeville (SC), and Hilton Head (SC). Destinations outwith the immediate area can include, but are not limited to Atlanta (GA), Macon (GA), Jacksonville (FL), Charlotte (NC), Myrtle Beach (SC), Charleston (SC), Columbia (SC).

Expectations

Savannah United’s Academy program and its players make a mutual one-year commitment, which lasts until the tryout period the following year. We place great importance on academics and expect players to organize their activities to accommodate both schoolwork and soccer at high levels of achievement. Regular attendance at practice sessions is encouraged and rewarded.

Tryouts

Savannah United holds open tryouts where interested players are evaluated by our coaching and training staff as well as guest evaluators from colleges and high schools. The skills, attitude and potential each player exhibited at these tryouts are considered when team positions are offered.

Not every player who tries out will be offered a team position, but we urge players who aren’t selected to take advantage of our Recreational program, supplemental training opportunities, and soccer camps to advance their skills and prepare for the following year’s tryouts.
